Each sword contains 4 individual slashes that deal damage, but they unfortunately can't deal damage at the same time, resulting in the skill only being capable of dealing 5 hits per sword from the first batch of slashes, then 1 hit each until the end.
The hitbox cannot be desynced because it doesn't interact with the ground in any way, as opposed to Mecha Drop.
