Rune Slayer

[A swordsman who mastered the power of Rune and Magic.]

Incorporates the use of Runes to further develop his ability to fight in close or long ranged battles.

[Sword Fire] Use this when you have a lot of enemies around you. You can also use this midair and this skill has a wide range.

[Luna Blade] Use this when there are multiple enemies gathered around. This skill won't knock down your enemies so you can continue your combo. This skill also burns the enemy's MP in PvP.

[Phoenix Talon] Use this when you have a lot of MP or have enemies around you. You get a boost in MP regen after the skill is used.

[Sword Enchant] You get one of three elements while attacking: Fire, Water, Poison. If your weapon is attributed with one of those elements, you'll have strong synergy.

[Enchant Breaker] Lower the enemy's elemental resistance. This skill creates a good synergy effect with Rune Slayer's Elemental Attack abilities. Make sure to apply to the enemy at all times.

[Triple Saber] Pulls in nearby enemies and deal massive damage with large Rune Blades.

[Overs Geyser] This skill is useful against large monsters or mobs. You can continue to attack the enemy with the right movement.

[Magic Coating] Absorb magical projectiles when in Iron Body status. Use this skill to withstand magical barrages from enemies.

Background

While traveling, Elsword decides to practice his magic skills so that he can become stronger. He goes to Vanessa in Velder for help, and she explains to him that he can start using runes instead of fireballs to increase his power. Soon Elsword starts to use the runes he got from training, and this allowed him to become a stronger magic knight, thus giving him the name, Rune Slayer.

Tips and Details

• Strangely, Rune Slayer's >>ZZX combo does not have increased damage on an enemy affected by his Magic Chain passive, despite the former being a magical attack.
• Unlike most other magical projectiles, Rune Slayer's Runes cannot be reflected completely. The runes will still go past enemies but will not deal damage if reflected.
  • Allies behind will receive damage from 'reflected' rune.

Trivia

• In his concept art, his initial design was rejected as it had too many similarities to Magic Knight. They then completely redesign his outfit and personality to be more rugged and laid-back rather than knightly and serious like Lord Knight.
• On Rune Slayer's runes, text reading "The Time Is Now" can be seen under the main symbol in small text.
• Despite Sword Fire being moved to Magic Knight and Lodestar taking its place, it is still listed as one of Rune Slayer's Primary Skills.
