Description

Every day, the two young elves explored the forests that surrounded the village.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • In the elven forest, as it had always been, it was the two tomboys that signaled the start of the morning.
  • The two would make their way through the dew-filled forest laughing loudly at one moment, only to stop so they could focus on a race to beat each other.
  • Lua: Hehe... Looks like I won this time!
  • The two girls with their cheeks colored red, stopped running once they reached the pond.
  • The short haired that had reached the pond first, took a deep breath and began to grin as the long haired girl while making a V-sign.
  • Rena: That's cheap! I was laughing so hard because of you that I couldn't focus properly!
  • The long haired girl sulked as she walks past the short haired girl, climbing the giant tree as if she had been familiar with it and looked down.
  • That place in the tree was their spot. Every morning the two would race their way to the pond, with the final destination being the top of the tree where the long haired girl was standing.
  • Lua: Rena, you aren't mad, are you?
  • The girl named Rena, turned her head to look far into the distance.
  • Rena: Lua, look over there. There's smoke rising.
  • Rena called Lua as she pointed towards a place that was across the forest. Lua quickly and skillfully made her way up the tree and looked towards the direction that Rena had pointed out.
  • Rena: I'm sure of it. The human village that was supposed to be around here must be that way!
  • The two children with their sparkly eyes sat there without a word watching the smoke rising and then looked at each other disappointingly once the smoke disappeared.
  • Lua: It's already over.
  • Rena: Yeah, it is. I was hoping something special would happen today...
  • As Rena looked looked on longingly towards the place where the smoke had once been as she followed after Lua who had been holding her hand leading her higher up the tree.
  • Lua: We can come back tomorrow, right? So today...
  • Lua, who had been looking around, began to smile brightly as if she found something good then pointed towards the center of the forest.
  • Lua: Let's try going there. It'll be the first time we've gone there right? I'm sure there will be lots of interesting things to see!
  • Rena then began to nod and smile brightly as she looked towards the place that Lua had pointed out. The two girls quickly made their way down the tree and deep into the forest to continue their exploration.

Description

By the time the two children had explored the majority of the forest, a small change had occurred in Rena.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Rena: Hahaha, that tickles...!

  • By the time the two girls had explored the majority of the forest, a small change had occurred in Rena.
  • The beings called 'spirits' began to naturally gather around Rena. They protected her so that she wouldn't get hurt and from time to time granted her requests.
  • Though the other elves were amazed and thought that the spirits particularly followed around that child, they also knew it was the same for Eridel Territory's greatest elder, Branwen Erindel.
  • Branwen started to observe Rena more carefully, but did not make efforts to get closer to the child.
  • Lua: Rena, Rena, can you pick that one too?
  • Rena: Of course! Watch closely! These guys will help me!
  • Lua and Rena still enjoyed exploring different parts of the forest. Sometimes it would be close to the barriers they were told not to leave, other times it would be deep into the southern part of the forest that other elves didn't travel often to...
  • When the two would go exploring, Rena did not hesitate to borrow help form the spirits.
  • Rena: Here we go. Can you cut it in half?

  • The fruit hanging from on top of the tall tree, quickly fell down when the wind spirits shook the tree, while the other spirits gently blew on the fruit so that it safely lands in Rena's hands.
  • Lua: That's amazing!
  • Lua cut the fruit in half as she watched the spirits circle around Rena as if they were hoping to be praised and handed Rena half the fruit.
  • Rena: This is nothing.
  • Lua: What do you mean nothing?! Those guys never listen to my requests...
  • Rena: Hm... That's true.
  • Rena turned to look at the spirits around her and shrugged as she took a bite from the fruit. The spirits that had suddenly appeared listened to any request she had.
  • No matter where she went, they would follow, doing what they can to protect her.
  • Though she didn't have a clue as to why the spirits were following her, the one thing she was sure of was that they were helpful.
  • Rena: Though I'm not sure why they are following me... But because they are here, exploring has become much more fun.
  • Lua who was looking at Rena smile brightly withdrew her envious gaze then nodded.
  • Lua: Anyways... how about we go check on that now?
  • Lua asked as they munching on the fruit. Rena stopped to ponder for a moment at what 'that' was and then clapping her hands and shouted as she remembered.
  • Rena: Ah! I forgot! I wonder if that child is okay since we weren't able to go yesterday...
  • Lua: I'm sure that child is okay. There was the morning dew... And the pond near by...
  • They began to move even before they finished what they were saying and it wasn't until they reached the pong that they visited so often that their footsteps stopped.
  • Lua: Ah... Rena...
  • Lua began to quickly run as they neared the pond and Rena followed behind with a worried expression.
  • Lua: ...To think it could happen...
  • In the place Lua collapsed was a single wilted flower. Lua mumbled to herself as she sadly looked down at the flower and soon broke into tears.
  • Lua: Is... Is it because of me? If I had come here yesterday... Then this child would not have wilted...
  • Rena: Lua...
  • Rena sat down next to Lua and looked on at the wilted flower. As if to make a decision, she put both hands on the ground and closed her eyes.

  • Lua: Rena...? What are you trying to do?
  • Rena: Sh! I'm borrowing the spirit's powers. They might be able to revive this child, right?
  • Rena gathered the spirits nearby then wished and wished again that she wanted to revive the wilted flower.
  • Though the spirits gathered and circled around Rena as usual, none of them would listen to Rena's wish.
  • Rena: (What's going on... Why aren't they granting my wish? You always listened to all my requests... Please help me this time too...)
  • Rena: (This flower is something my friend cherished. It is a precious flower that she received from her parents on her birthday... Please help me save this flower...)
  • The spirits moved as one between Rena and the flower and began to emit a small light. The spirit's light started to seep into the wilted flower and the flower bud slowly lifted its head.
  • Rena and Lua held their breaths as they watched the sight before them. They both waited with hearts filled with hope to see the flower come alive and bloom.
  • However, before long the spirit's light faded away and the flow was back to being wilted.
  • Rena: Why...
  • Rena being startled by seeing all the spirits scatter, Rena tried even harder to gather the spirits. However, none of them would answer her.
  • Rena: (Why are you doing this...?)
  • The results were the same no matter how many times she tried.
  • Lua: Rena, stop it! You don't have to anymore...!
  • Rena pushed away Lua's hand as she tried to stop her and once again called upon the spirits. Her vision became blurry and her head began to spin, but she didn't care.
  • Lua: Rena? Rena!!!
  • And with that, Rena became unconscious.

Description

The person that had come to visit the unconscious Rena was the head elder, Branwen.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Lua: Lillia, how is Rena doing?
  • Lillia quietly shook her head as she watched her daughter who had been twisting and turning while painting softly as if she was in pain. Rena had not woken up ever since the day Lua brought Rena home on her back.
  • From time to time, Rena would get a fever to bad that she would soak the bed sheet and every single time, the wind spirits would appear and blow air on to Rena's head.
  • Lua: I'm so sorry... If it wasn't for me...
  • Lillia hugged Lua who looked as if she would burst into tears at any moment and gently patted her shoulder.
  • Lillia: It's okay, child. It is not your fault... Rena will surely open her eyes again.
  • Lillia: Look at how the spirits are tending to Rena so sincerely, Rena will not lose so easily.
  • Lua, barely holding back her tears, nodded aand walked towards Rena's bed. Rena's face was pale and her head felt hot.
  • Isilad: Lillia! I brought the elder!
  • Isilad's voice came from downstairs and broke through the silence in the room. Before the sounds of the wood floors could continue, Isilad and elder Branwen had entered the room.
  • Lilila: I apologize for making you come so far.
  • Branwen: That's okay. Naturally, I should be here to help if there is someone in need. That is what I ought to do...
  • Branwen's words trailed off as she look towards Rena. She was already aware that Rena's condition was not good based on the rumors.
  • And just like the rumors, Rena was in really bad condition. As Branwen stroked the worried Lua's head, she gazed at the spirits that were beside Rena's head.
  • Branwen: (... So that's what happened.)
  • Branwen gently placed her hand on the child's forehead as she nodded the spirits away. Soon, blue lights began to surround Rena.
  • Rena: ... Ugghh...
  • The light disappeared as quickly as they came and then amazingly enough Rena, who had been sleeping as if she was dead, sat up and stretched her arms as if nothing ever happened.
  • Rena: Mom... Dad... Lua... and even the elder? What are you guys doing?
  • Lua: Rena... Rena!!!
  • Rena scratched her head in confusion as Lua jumped into her arms in a fit of tears.
  • Rena: What's going on...?
  • Branwen: You were in a deep sleep and very sick.
  • Branwen spoke in a soft voice and then looked straight into Rena's eyes making a strict expression.
  • Branwen: I'm sure you know better than anyone as to why you ended up like this right, Rena?
  • Rena nodded hesitantly as she recalled what had happened earlier with the spirits.
  • Branwen: ... Okay, as long as you know.
  • Branwen softened her expression and smiled and then asked a question that surprised everyone in the room.
  • Branwen: It looks like you'll need a proper mentor. Would you like to become my disciple?
  • With a surprised expression, Rena stopped to think for a bit and soon gave a large nod with an expression that she had made a big decision.
  • Rena: Yes! I will!

Description

From Branwen, Rena learned about 'power'.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Branwen: Remember, Rena. Those with power cannot use their power carelessly.

  • Branwen spoke gently as she showed Rena the powers that the spirits held. Rena's eyes shone brightly as she looked at the images of light appeared and disappeared at the end of Branwen's fingertips.
  • Branwen: When using power, one must take responsibility for their power. Do you remember what happened before?
  • Branwen put her hands down on her knees then asked while staring straight at Rena. Rena had never brought up that event ever since she had woken.
  • She would change the subject whenever the topic of that event was about to come up.
  • Rena: ... Yes.
  • Branwen: When you were asking the spirits to revive the flower, what were you thinking?
  • Rena's mouth twitched as she couldn't answer right away.
  • She was barely able to stop herself from saying 'I didn't think about anything' as she continued to think hard on finding a proper answer.
  • However, the answer Rena gave in the end was not much different from the answer she had first thought of.
  • Rena: ... Nothing.
  • Branwen smiled as if she was satisfied by Rena's honest answer then continued speaking.
  • Branwen: Thank you for answering honestly. However Rena... What you did was very foolish.
  • Rena's face became red and she lowered her head. She had also been regretting what had happened on that day. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have forced them.
  • In her head she repeated hundreds and thousands of time that she will never use the power of the spirits ever again.
  • Branwen: All the things that could have happened if you were to revive that flower... Assuming you had revived that flower, whether it was causing the plants that surrounded the flower to wilt or if it was the spirits disappearing after turning into dew because they used up their power trying to save the flower...
  • Branwen: Were you prepared to take on the responsibility if such things were to happen?
  • Rena quietly shook her head. She once again realized how foolish her actions had been especially since she had not thought that far ahead.
  • Branwen: Not everyone can wield this power. If anything, there are more people in this world that do have power. As people who have this power, we must have the resolve and the appropriate responsibility.
  • Branwen: Always think before you use your power. Think about the results your power will bring, think of who will be harmed because of you and how you will take responsibility for it.
  • As Branwen's warm hands were patting her head, Rena quietly whispered to the spirits.
  • Rena: (I'm really sorry.)
  • Branwen looked sweetly at Rena and then once again focused on creating an image of light in front of Rena. As the light quickly transformed, it turned into an image of a giant tree.

  • Rena: Wow... This... Isn't this that giant tree near the pond?

  • Branwen gently nodded as she continued to speak.
  • Branwen: That's right. This tree is called Eldrasil. It's a tree that gained enormous amounts of magic power due to the power of El. This tree has gained 'consciousness' and is protecting the forest.
  • Rena: I... Didn't realize it was such an amazing tree.
  • Branwen: Huhu, there is no reason to be startled. Eldrasil loves all the life residing in the forest. I'm sure it was very happy that you two came to visit it every day.
  • Once again, Rena started at the image of light with a bright expression.
  • Branwen: My power is also possible due to my connection with Eldrasil.
  • Rena stretched out her hand to touch the various parts of light as she carefully listened to Branwen's words.
  • Branwen: Going forward, it will be the most important part of our lessons so make sure to keep it in mind. Also, one more thing.
  • Rena: You want me to keep the fact that I'm your disciple a secret, right?
  • Rena stood up and smiled as if she understood.
  • Branwen: Yes, no one except you, Lua and your parents... must know that you are my disciple.
  • Rena answered yes to Branwen's and then reviewed the 'image of light' that Branwen taught her before standing up to leave.
  • Branwen smiled mysteriously as she looked at Rena's back.
